“The people who walk in darkness will see a great light; those who live in a dark land, the light will shine on them. You shall multiply the nation, you shall increase their gladness; they will be glad in Your presence”
I am so “glad” for our Lord God’s presence. Aren’t you?
I am so glad for God’s “great light” for it is in His light, in the light of His presence, that I find my “gladness.” Yes, praise God, it has become true for us in Jesus Christ that, “they will be glad in Your presence.”
We do live in a dark land. The light that exists in this world, apart from God, is darkness to God. God’s light is such a “great light,” that His light outshines all other lights. It is important for us to keep our eyes upon, and our spirit’s filled with, God’s “great light,” for without His light we are still walking in darkness.
Thinking about God is not the same as being with God. We could think about God but still be profoundly influenced by the darkness of this world around us.
Being with God is joining with Him in the “great light” of His presence, where all darkness is vanquished and eliminated. In His presence there is only His “great light,” the gladdening light of Christ Jesus. I would much rather be profoundly influenced, in spirit and mind, by the light of God’s presence than by the darkness of this world. Yes, thank You Lord that “They will be glad in Your presence.”
The light of Christ lives within us and is always shining brightly. It is the light of Christ within us which beckons us to come and “increase [our] gladness” in His presence.
The world around us is a “dark land” of sin and death. However, our inner world, our inner temple, where God dwells, is always and forever full of light and gladness for us.
“For God, who said, ‘Light shall shine out of darkness,’ is the One Who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ” (2nd Corinthians 4: 6). God’s great light “has shone in our hearts” and that’s where His light is shining presently, entreating us to join Him, where we may blessedly behold “the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.”
Yes, bless His holy Name, take time to see this today, “the glory of God in the face of Christ” within, and for sure you will be in the presence of ever increasing gladness. Hallelujah!
